In 1910, John Flinders is warden of Red Rock Territorial Prison, in Arizona. When a condemned man's last request brings Flinders into contact with the man's widow, Flinders finds himself falling in love. Meanwhile, a new convict, Mike Sullivan, turns out to be an old friend of Flinders'. They talk over old times, but it's clear that Sullivan has plans to leave the prison before his time is up. When those plans come to pass, Flinders sets out to re-take his old pal.

A thirteen year old kid, "the boy", lives and works in a cemetery. The cemetery is his whole life, and growing up with the dead instills in him an obsession and respect for death. His friends depend on him: An unhappy old man, a former political prisoner yearning for death, and makeup artist for deceased, a former artist who dreams of painting a masterpiece. The boy does what he can to help them. The old man attempts suicide, but upon learning the date of his death and seeing his beautiful plot chosen for him by the boy, he is able to bear his life. Upon meeting the beautiful Maria, "the boy" gives the former artist a surprise date with her. But when Maria and the artist become closer, the boy realizes that she is the daughter of the old man. The kid thinks the old man would die unhappy if he knew of her existence and so decides to hide the truth.

Pursued by a posse, a rancher and a young woman, partners in crime, are chased into Indian country.

Red Hot Skate Rock is a 30-minute music film filmed on September 20, 1987 by Vision Street Wear at the Vision Skate Escape in Los Angeles. The film features an 8-song performance by the Red Hot Chili Peppers during the band's The Uplift Mofo Party Plan tour and includes skate demos by skateboarders Tony Hawk, Mike McGill, Steve Caballero, Chris Miller and many more pro skaters. To date, Red Hot Skate Rock was the first and only officially released video recording of the original Red Hot Chili Peppers lineup. Guitarist Hillel Slovak died of a drug overdose less than a year later and Irons would quit shortly after Slovak's death.

The second episode in particular felt like a group of young writer/performers truly finding their own unique voice, after which point it's easy to imagine that the tedious chore of animating this show became less attractive. Having realized that they could probably get just as many votes for one tenth the labor, The Valley Pals voluntarily retired their own hit show by going over the time limit in a very memorable fourth episode.
